The problem

The decanter arrived worn and out of service, showing the surface erosion, worn wear surfaces, and degraded rotating components typical of a machine due for a full rebuild. The before image documents its condition on arrival; the after image documents the same machine following a complete shop rebuild.

Scope of work

  • Non-destructive teardown and inspection (NDTI) with a documented condition report
  • Conveyor scroll refurbishment and hardfacing of wear surfaces
  • Bearing replacement on the rotating assembly
  • Weld repair of areas damaged by mechanical, chemical, or erosion attack
  • Refitting and replacement of wear parts, o-rings, and gaskets
  • Static and dynamic balancing of the rotating assembly
  • Full test run prior to return to service
