This case study is published as a draft. Outcome and timeline details are pending client confirmation.
- Machine
- Decanter centrifuge (bowl-and-scroll; make/model not disclosed)
- Industry
- Confidential rendering client
The problem
The decanter arrived worn and out of service, showing the surface erosion, worn wear surfaces, and degraded rotating components typical of a machine due for a full rebuild. The before image documents its condition on arrival; the after image documents the same machine following a complete shop rebuild.
Scope of work
- Non-destructive teardown and inspection (NDTI) with a documented condition report
- Conveyor scroll refurbishment and hardfacing of wear surfaces
- Bearing replacement on the rotating assembly
- Weld repair of areas damaged by mechanical, chemical, or erosion attack
- Refitting and replacement of wear parts, o-rings, and gaskets
- Static and dynamic balancing of the rotating assembly
- Full test run prior to return to service
